Functional Ability Evaluations
Injured clients are often left with residual impairments that may, within the context of their injuries, have bearing on their ability to perform physically in the workplace. A Functional Ability (or Capacity) Evaluation is an intensive short-term (usually one day) evaluation that objectively seeks to consider a client’s physical tolerance abilities related to musculoskeletal strength, endurance, speed, and flexibility. In this process, an evaluator skilled in Functional Ability Evaluation will use a battery of standardized tests designed to objectively measure one’s residual strength capabilities and tolerances. Results are then considered by the vocational evaluator or rehabilitation specialists to better consider appropriate work options or alternatives.
